THE TRUE STORY OF THE BALLERINA IN RED by Alessandra Colasanti and Samir Abujamra An experimental mockumentary that seeks to unravel the life and work of the legendary Ballerina in Red. Apparently, the Ballerina in Red was a dancer in one of the paintings by Degas who one day stepped out of the frame and ventured out into the world. The Ballerina in Red emerges as a key figure in the avant-garde movements, a mix of academic and madcap nonsense: offbeat, wanton, charismatic, French, Brazilian, Russian, translator, bohemian, a peacock, professor, philosopher, essayist, prima ballerina of the Moscow Imperial Ballet, diva of Hollywood movies, official translator of Stanislavsky in America, one of the founders of the Frankfurt School, Duchamps muse - the Urinal was an idea of hers - mistress of Picasso, Elvis, John Cage, Van Gogh, among many other things. An allegorical character that through critical humor thematizes the aesthetic and philosophical dilemmas of our time, from the inception of modernism to the current and controversial post-modernity. In the title itself, by the addition of the expression "true story", the tension between the concepts of reality and fiction is established. The project proposes a nonsensical juncture between fictitious facts and actual events concerning the history of art and thought, from the vanguards of the early twentieth century to the present day.
