Khaled Ahmed - political scientist, journalist and editor of several major newspapers like The Nation, Pakistan, described the border crossing and The Sunday Times - the struggle between the reformist and radical schools of Islam and the rise of religious fundamentalism in Pakistan. He explained in detail: (a) the old conflict between Orthodox thought and reformist (former believe in a literal interpretation of the Koran, while the latter emphasize contextual interpretation), (b) the factors responsiblefor the regression in Muslim societies from orthodox thinking freewheeling of the Middle Ages, (c) the failure of economic development through the application of Shari'a (Law Medieval IE), (d) the ideology of the Pakistani state and the reasons for the late General Zia-ul-Haq in the Islamization of society, (and) the role of CIA and Saudi Arabia to introduce radical (ie Wahhabi) Islam in Pakistan during the Afghanistan war against ' Soviet Union, (f) the impact of the Afghan jihad in Indian Kashmir to PakAnd military intelligence groups, and (g) the ability of Western countries as a contribution to a political system in Pakistan and thinking change.
