Harry Lime Theme; "The Third Man" movie/Anton Karas performed by Jon England

Always a favorite of mine, this (originally) haunting theme by Anton Karas, appealed to me as an upbeat Ooompah-style fun tune to arrange and perform. I use my 'carnival'-style piano to put across the honky-tonk nature of the arrangment ... have fun trying to count all of the piano 'keys'! Starring Orson Welles, Trevor Howard, Alida Vali and Joseph Cotton, the cinematic tale is a dark and desperate picture of post-war Vienna. The haunting tune, originally and memorably performed on the zither fits the mood perfectly as the tension mounts and lives double-cross. Anton Karas reputedly took all the royalty income from the worldwide performances of this tune and spent it on his friends and other needy folk paying for food and other forms of sustenance they needed. The money didn't last forever and neither did he. An intriguing character if ever there was one - and a great story.
